Q: How does cross-gen access work for NBA 2K23?
A: Players that purchase the Digital Deluxe, Michael Jordan or Championship Edition will receive both versions of NBA 2K23 across generations of consoles from the same console family (PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S). So, using PlayStation®4 as an example, you will receive the PlayStation®4 version of NBA 2K23 and an accompanying digital copy of the PlayStation®5 version, which remains a separate product. For digital purchases of the Digital Deluxe, Michael Jordan or Championship Edition, the accompanying digital copy will be automatically entitled to your platform account. For physical purchases, a redemption code for the accompanying digital copy will be included in the game box along with the bonus digital content. A: The NBA 2K23 WNBA Edition is a physical only GameStop exclusive and available to residents in the U.S. only.
Q: Will there be any cross-progression or crossplay between the different versions of NBA 2K23?
A: NBA 2K23 will feature MyTEAM Cross-Progression and a Shared VC Wallet within the same console family (PlayStation®4 <> PlayStation®5, Xbox One <> Xbox Series X|S). MyTEAM Cross-Progression enables all MyTEAM Points, Tokens, cards and progress to be shared across both versions of NBA 2K23 on generations of consoles in the same console family. Similarly, the Shared VC Wallet means any earned or purchased VC is accessible across generations of consoles in the same console family. There will not be crossplay between different platforms.
Q: Can I play the PlayStation®5 or Xbox Series X|S versions of NBA 2K23 on PlayStation®4 or Xbox One?
A: The PlayStation®5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of NBA 2K23 are only available on those consoles, as it takes full advantage of the power, speed, and technology of the new hardware and includes additions and improvements only possible on those consoles.
Q: Can I play the PlayStation®4 or Xbox One versions of NBA 2K23 on PlayStation®5 or Xbox Series X|S?
A: Through backwards compatibility, the PlayStation®4 and Xbox One versions of NBA 2K23 will be playable on PlayStation®5 and Xbox Series X|S, in the same console family. However, if you are using a physical copy of NBA 2K23, the PlayStation®5 Digital Edition and Xbox Series S are not able to play physical game discs.
Q: I purchased the Digital Deluxe, Michael Jordan or Championship Edition, but the cover art displayed in my library is the Standard Edition cover featuring Devin Booker. Is there something wrong?
A: Not to worry, this is normal. The base game is the same in all editions of NBA 2K23, so all players will see the Standard Edition cover art in their libraries.
Q: Are there any plans to bring the next generation of NBA 2K titles to PC and Nintendo Switch in the future?
A: This is something the team is passionate about and will continue to investigate what is possible for the franchise in the future. For now, the focus was on assuring NBA 2K23 was optimized for the new consoles (PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S), while also making sure the experience remains fresh and innovative for players on other platforms.
