NBA 2K24 Updated Player Ratings 04.18
Another NBA regular season in the rearview mirror, with the final 16 teams geared up for the road to the NBA Finals. This weekend, the First Round of the NBA Playoffs will commence, featuring several marquee matchups and rising stars, including MVP frontrunner Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, New York Knicks’ star point guard Jalen Brunson, and sophomore phenom Paolo Banchero. Towards the end of the regular season, Gilgeous-Alexander, Brunson, and Banchero did all they could to best position their teams for the Playoffs, and their efforts resulted in increased ratings for each of them.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Guard, Oklahoma City Thunder: 97 OVR (+1)
As of this writing, SGA has leapfrogged Nikola Jokic as the favorite to take home the NBA Most Valuable Player award, and for good reason. The Thunder superstar averaged 30.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, 6.2 assists, and 2 steals per game, which ranks second behind only Sacramento Kings guard De’Aaron Fox. Much gets made about SGA’s knack for scoring, but his defense has taken a noticeable step forward since last year. Pundits continue to debate whether the Thunder’s youth will play a role in how their postseason plays out, but with SGA leading the way this is not a team to discredit.
Jalen Brunson, Guard, New York Knicks: 93 OVR (+1)
It’s time we acknowledge Jalen Brunson as one of the best players in the league. His emergence as a star last season was a great story, and a lot of people voiced praise for the 27-year-old talent. Fast-forward to the present and he’s no longer just a great story; he’s a certified superstar eager to make an impact on the league’s biggest stage. This year, Brunson set career highs in multiple statistical categories, with averages of 28.7 points and 6.7 assists per game, with an efficient 84% from the free throw line. With Julius Randle out for the year, Brunson will have to carry the brunt of the work offensively, but he’s more than capable.
Paolo Banchero, Forward, Orlando Magic: 88 OVR (+1)
In only his second season in the league, Banchero has already met the lofty expectations that came with being the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft by leading his team to a playoff berth for the first time in four years. The Orlando Magic made the Playoffs in 2019 and 2020, but the sense of optimism around the team is far greater this year than in either of those back-to-back appearances thanks to Banchero. The 21-year-old built on an impressive rookie season by improving his shot selection and being more efficient from the floor, but his ability to get his teammates more involved shows his potential as the primary facilitator of the offense. The Magic finished the regular season as the fifth seed, surprising many fans and pundits, but don’t be surprised if this team makes some noise starting this weekend.

NBA 2K24 Updated Player Ratings 03.28
The Western Conference standings are filled with plenty of drama headed into the NBA Playoffs, with teams climbing up or sliding down the rankings on what seems like a nightly basis. There’s a good chance the Oklahoma City Thunder, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Denver Nuggets will all finish in the top three, but it’s anyone’s guess what seed the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, and Los Angeles Clippers secure.
Anthony Davis is doing his best to help the Lakers lock up a Play-In spot at least, Kyrie Irving’s helping the Mavs make a final push, and Paul George is helping the Clippers hit their stride at just the right time. All three Western Conference stars are vying for a spot in the postseason and have delivered some incredible performances as of late, resulting in an increase to their player rating.
Anthony Davis, Center-Forward, Los Angeles Lakers: 95 OVR (+1)
At the beginning of the season, Anthony Davis made it a personal goal to play all 82 games in the regular season, understanding the importance of his availability for his team. While he’s likely going to fall just short of that total, he’s played in 68 out of 73 games this season, which is the most he’s played in a single year since 2017-2018 when he played 75 games. Davis has been banged up the last two weeks, but he’s remained in the starting lineup and pushed through any pain he may be experiencing. In a recent matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks, Davis played a whopping 52 minutes in a double-overtime thriller, finishing with 34 points, 23 rebounds, 4 blocks, and a much-needed win. Davis’ commitment to his team and winning deserves more praise.
Kyrie Irving, Guard, Dallas Mavericks: 91 OVR (+1)
Kyrie Irving has been a consistent contributor for the Dallas Mavericks all season, but this is the time of year when the nine-time All-Star invariably takes his game to another level in preparation for the postseason. Over the last two weeks, Irving is averaging 25.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 7.7 assists, and 1.7 steals, providing an all-around effort on both ends of the court. The Mavs’ offense will continue to run through Luka Dončić, but when it’s clutch time, don’t be surprised if Irving gets the green light. This is an NBA champion who hit one of the coldest three-pointers in NBA history in the last few seconds of Game 7 during the 2016 NBA Finals—no one wants to be tasked with defending that guy.
Paul George, Forward, Los Angeles Clippers: 90 OVR (+1)
Paul George is a bona fide superstar, but the Clippers' trade for James Harden earlier this year forced the nine-time All-Star—and other members of the team—to slip into the background momentarily so his new teammate could get acclimated to the lineup. Now that enough time has passed and the Clippers have built some cohesion between the new starting five, George is back to commanding the court in myriad ways. Over the last two weeks, George is averaging 26 points per game, leading the Clippers in scoring during that period, and is staying active defensively with 1.7 steals per game. A lot of focus is understandably placed on Harden and Kawhi Leonard, but George could be the primary catalyst for the Clippers in the postseason if he maintains this level of production.

NBA 2K24 Updated Player Ratings 03.07
As the Western and Eastern Conference standings heat up ahead of the NBA Playoffs next month, so are the candidates for several individual awards. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Domantas Sabonis are two of a handful of players mentioned in MVP discussions on sports talk shows, and Anthony Davis is arguably the frontrunner for the Defensive Player of the Year award. As part of our latest Player Ratings, we gave each of the aforementioned players a boost to their overall rating.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Guard, Oklahoma City Thunder: 96 OVR (+1)
Could this be the year the MVP trophy returns to Oklahoma City? With the way Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been playing, there’s a good chance the budding superstar takes home the MVP hardware, making him the first Thunder player to win the prestigious award since Russell Westbrook in 2017. Despite being the second-youngest team in the league with an average age of 24.12, the Thunder are experienced well beyond their years. SGA is the team’s driving force, effortlessly averaging 31.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 6.5 assists, and 2.2 steals per game, which currently leads the league.
Anthony Davis, Center-Forward, Los Angeles Lakers: 94 OVR (+1)
The Lakers’ big man has always been known as a defensive enforcer, but he’s been even more menacing in the paint this season. AD is currently averaging 2.5 blocks per game; the last time he averaged at least 2.5 blocks per game was in 2018 when he finished as the league leader in blocks with 2.6 per game. While he may be the Purple and Gold’s defensive anchor, he’s also averaging the second-most points on the team with 24.9 and adding 12.3 rebounds per game. Even with LeBron James on the team, Davis is the key to the Lakers' success.
Domantas Sabonis, Center, Sacramento Kings: 90 OVR (+2)
Few players are overlooked more than Domantas Sabonis, the Sacramento Kings’ all-around sensation. Sabonis leads the league in triple-doubles this season with a whopping 21 and counting, but for some reason he’s rarely included in discussions about the best players in the NBA. However, here at NBA 2K, we know and value the gifted 27-year-old. Not only is Sabonis leading the league in triple-doubles this season, but he’s also averaging the most rebounds in the Association with a career high of 13.4. Sabonis has suited up for all 60 Kings games this year and done his part to keep the team in playoff contention, even with his teammate DeAaron Fox missing eight games this season. Sabonis might not be the flashiest player in the league, but he does everything necessary to win, and then some.

NBA 2K24 Updated Player Ratings 02.15
NBA All-Star Weekend is officially upon us, with many of the NBA’s best players set to make an appearance in Indianapolis for the Rising Stars tournament, Skills Challenge, and All-Star Game. Among the long list of superstars participating in the three-day event are Stephen Curry, making his 10th All-Star appearance, Jalen Brunson, earning his first All-Star selection this year, and rookie phenom Victor Wembanyama competing in the Rising Stars tournament. Over the last two weeks, the trio of talented players have delivered standout performances, resulting in increased ratings for each of them.
Stephen Curry, Guard, Golden State Warriors: 96 OVR (+1)
It’s been an up-and-down year for Curry and the Warriors, but at the end of the day, you can never count out the four-time NBA Champion and his supporting cast. Since the start of February, the Warriors are 6-1 and Curry appears to have found his rhythm. During the last two weeks, the two-time MVP is averaging 30.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game, and recently hit a game-winning shot to defeat the Phoenix Suns. Going into All-Star Weekend, Curry and the Warriors are riding a hot streak; we’ll see if they can keep it going following the break.
Jalen Brunson, Guard, New York Knicks: 92 OVR (+2)
There’s a new king of New York, and his name is Jalen Brunson. The New York Knicks starting point guard is the heartbeat of the Eastern Conference’s fourth-ranked squad, and is largely responsible for the team’s impressive 33-21 record. Since joining the team via free agency in 2022, Brunson has been on a rapid ascent to stardom, improving his points and assists per game each season. Over the last 14 days, Brunson is averaging 33 points, 4 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game. Brunson’s star power can no longer be overlooked, and he’s more than deserving of his first career All-Star selection.
Victor Wembanyama, Center-Forward, San Antonio Spurs: 89 OVR (+1)
On February 12, the San Antonio Spurs’ phenom recorded a triple-double with 27 points, 14 rebounds, and an astonishing 10 blocks, becoming the first rookie since 1990 to achieve this marvelous feat. The rookie center-forward has not only lived up to the lofty expectations set by pundits this season—he’s exceeding them at a historic pace. During the last two weeks, Wembanyama has averaged 19.6 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 3.6 blocks per game. On the season, the 20-year-old French star is averaging 3.2 blocks per game, which leads the league this year. Wembanyama isn’t even 50 games into his NBA career yet and he’s already rewriting the record books.

NBA 2K24 Updated Player Ratings 01.25
There’s a youth movement sweeping through the NBA, with Victor Wembanyama, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Jalen Williams featuring prominently among the next generation of stars that have been dominating the league over the last two weeks. The San Antonio Spurs might be out of the playoff picture as of now, but there’s no question that Wemby will lead them back to the postseason sooner rather than later. KAT and JDub have played pivotal roles for their squads this season, with the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Oklahoma City Thunder firmly entrenched atop the Western Conference Standings. In the latest edition of the NBA 2K24 Player Ratings, we’re delving into the aforementioned trio and their most recent performances; let’s get started.
Victor Wembanyama, Center-Forward, San Antonio Spurs: 88 OVR (+1)
As LeBron James put it, Victor Wembanyama must be an alien, judging by all his otherworldly gifts. The most anticipated prospect in years has lived up to the expectations in his rookie season. Over the last 14 days, Wemby is averaging 25.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2.7 blocks per game. On the year, the uber-talented 7’4” player is leading the league in blocks with 3.2 per game, which would rank sixth of all-time by a rookie in NBA history. While wins have been hard to come by in San Antonio this season, there’s plenty of hope for the franchise, and much of it rests on the shoulders of this 20-year-old star.
Karl-Anthony Towns, Center-Forward, Minnesota Timberwolves: 87 OVR (+1)
As of now, the Minnesota Timberwolves are tied for the best record in the Western Conference, and the team’s prized big man has been a contributing factor to its success. Over the last two weeks, Karl-Anthony Towns has an impressive 26.7 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game, but most notably, he had a career-high 62-point outburst. KAT’s seen an overall dip in his season averages this year, but he’s playing more complementary basketball and it’s translating to wins.
Jalen Williams, Forward, Oklahoma City Thunder: 83 OVR (+1)
Among the trio of players featured in this week’s edition of the Player Ratings, Jalen Williams is the only one who's arguably been flying under the radar—but he won’t be for much longer. The Oklahoma City Thunder took JDub with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, and he spent most of his rookie season playing an ancillary role for the team; however, his maturation as a go-to scoring option this year has been rapid. At the halfway point of the regular season, Williams is currently leading the league in clutch field goal percentage, with a scalding 81.3%. Recently, the versatile wingman hit a go-ahead bucket with two seconds left in the fourth quarter to give his squad a win over the Portland Trail Blazers. On the year, Williams is averaging an efficient 59% field goal percentage and ranks in the top 20 overall—he’s been remarkable.

NBA 2K24 Updated Player Ratings 12.21
NBA 2K24 Updated Player Ratings 12.21
Right now, few players are dominating the game like Giannis Antetokounmpo, Luka Dončić, and Anthony Davis; whether it’s on offense or defense, these three superstars are capable of taking over at a moment’s notice—and when they get in the zone, there’s no stopping them. This year, we’ve acknowledged a handful of players making early bids for the MVP award, and this week is no exception.
Giannis Antetokounmpo, Forward, Milwaukee Bucks: 97 OVR (+1)
Giannis is a joy to watch; his transformation as a player and as a leader over the course of his 11 years in the league is impressive and doesn’t get nearly enough praise. The Milwaukee Bucks’ star entered the NBA in 2011 weighing 190 pounds and with a 60 overall NBA 2K rating, but because of his remarkable work ethic, he’s evolved into a 242-pound powerhouse, NBA champion, and a 97 overall in NBA 2K24. Since our last ratings update, the Greek Freak is averaging an absurd 36 points, 11.5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. Giannis and the Bucks are chugging along with a full head of steam to close out the year.
Luka Dončić, Guard, Dallas Mavericks: 96 OVR (+1)
Luka Dončić might be Inspector Gadget because he’s got an answer for anything defenses throw at him and he can truly do it all. In the midst of his sixth season in the NBA, the four-time All-Star plays with more experience than many of his peers, despite being only 24 years old. Every time he takes the floor, Dončić conducts the offense with poise and an effortless demeanor like he’s been doing it all his life. While he’s great at putting his teammates in positions to succeed with 11.2 assists per game in the last two weeks, he’s finding his spots as well, posting 36.5 points per contest during the same stretch. As long as Dončić is healthy, the Mavericks are going to be a threat.
Anthony Davis, Center, Los Angeles Lakers: 93 OVR (+1)
Before he was even drafted as the first-overall pick of the 2012 NBA Draft, pundits believed Anthony Davis had the potential to become an NBA MVP one day. While he has yet to reach the lofty achievement, he’s accomplished a lot during his 12 seasons in the league—including an NBA championship in 2020—and he’s putting together one of the best seasons of his career in 2023, averaging 23.9 points, 2.6 blocks, and a league-leading 12.5 rebounds per game. The Lakers know that AD is their key to success and the offense needs to run through him. The team needs to find ways to preserve him for another deep NBA Playoff run in 2024.

NBA 2K24 Updated Player Ratings 11.30
Given the opportunity, any general manager would jump at the opportunity to build their franchise around Devin Booker, Tyrese Haliburton, or Chet Holmgren. Booker, a seasoned scorer in the league, has grown into a franchise superstar with MVP potential. Haliburton is only 23 years old and looks like he could be a top-three point guard in the league very soon. And Holmgren is already living up to his lottery-pick talent less than 20 games into his career. All three have played an integral role in their teams' hot starts to the year and are fascinating to watch.
Devin Booker, Guard, Phoenix Suns: 95 OVR (+1)
In the midst of his ninth season, Devin Booker has evolved from a sharpshooting guard to an all-around playmaker who can make an impact in every facet of the game. Since returning from injury, Booker has stepped up as a scorer and a facilitator, averaging a robust 28.9 points and 8.9 assists per game in the last 14 days. Under new Phoenix Suns head coach Frank Vogel, the team is determined to run the offense through the 27-year-old superstar, with Booker seeing a career-high 33.9% usage rate. As long as the ball is in his hands, the Suns are going to be tough to stop on offense.
Tyrese Haliburton, Guard, Indiana Pacers: 92 OVR (+2)
It feels like there’s a new Tyrese Haliburton highlight going viral on social media every other game this year. After being named an All-Star for the first time last season, the Pacers’ star point guard has elevated his game to an even higher level, averaging career-highs in nearly every major statistical category. Through 15 games this year, Haliburton is scoring 25.9 points per game, leading the league with assists at 11.9, and shooting 51% from the field, with an impressive 45% from beyond the arc. Haliburton looks like one of the best point guards in the Eastern Conference, and is well on his way to becoming one of the best in the league.
Chet Holmgren, Center-Forward, Oklahoma City Thunder: 85 OVR (+2)
After unfortunately missing all of what would’ve been his rookie season last year due to a foot injury, Chet Holmgren’s debut in 2023 has gotten off to an exceptional start. The former No. 2 overall pick has been seamlessly integrated into the young core of the Oklahoma City Thunder, finding ways to be effective on both offense and defense. Over the last two weeks, Holmgren is averaging 20.8 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game. The 7’1” center-forward is also top five in blocks per game this season with 2.3. With Shai Gilgeous-Alexander running the point, we don’t envy the coaches that have to game plan for this deadly pick-and-roll duo.

NBA 2K24 Updated Player Ratings 11.09
The NBA is back, and already so much has changed since the last Player Ratings update! Damian Lillard was traded from Portland to the Milwaukee Bucks, Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday were traded to the Boston Celtics, and James Harden is now a Los Angeles Clipper. While the landscape of the NBA has transformed, the goal remains the same: win the Larry O’Brien trophy and become an NBA champion. As each team competes for a coveted playoff spot and the inaugural NBA Cup in the In-Season Tournament, we’ll be monitoring each player’s performance and updating their NBA 2K24 rating accordingly. Now that we're two weeks into the start of the new season, let’s take a look at the players who are already in mid-season form.
Joel Embiid, Center, Philadelphia 76ers: 97 OVR (+1)
The reigning MVP looks like a potential back-to-back winner with how he’s started the season. Through two weeks and some change, Embiid is averaging a monstrous 32.5 points per game, 11 rebounds, 6.2 assists, and 2 blocks. The seven-foot big man’s ability to get buckets on the offensive end and contest shots in the paint on defense gives the 76ers a strong chance at winning every time they take the floor. There are only a handful of elite two-way players in the NBA, but few can mirror Embiid’s MVP-level production.
Anthony Edwards, Forward, Minnesota Timberwolves: 90 OVR (+2)
The former No. 1 overall pick of the 2020 NBA Draft has all the characteristics of a superstar. Edwards boasts raw, bounding athleticism, exceptional length to defend skilled forwards, and a deep bag of offensive tools to create open shots whether he's in the lane or beyond the arc. With Edwards entering his fourth year in the NBA, it’s hard to believe the level of maturity and poise he plays with for being just 22 years old. It won’t be long before pundits start pondering if he could be the new face of the league.
Victor Wembanyama, Center, San Antonio Spurs: 86 OVR (+2)
Is it possible that Wembanyama is even better than everyone thought he would be? It may be too soon to tell, but so far he’s living up to all of the hype and expectations that preceded his NBA debut. The French product and No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft has already turned in a few stellar performances against some of the greatest players in NBA history, notably his 38-point and 10-rebound game against Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns. There’s sure to be some rookie growing pains—which is no doubt what his division rivals are hoping for—but all signs point to Wemby being a bona fide superstar.
