CASUAL CORNER GAME GUIDE

Casual Corner is a new game mode in NBA 2K27 that lets you learn to play, build your confidence, and grow your game.

WHAT IS CASUAL CORNER?

This completely optional, rookie-friendly experience is intended to ease new players into NBA 2K27 and prepare them for more competitive hoops in The City.

Every game you play in Casual Corner is based on your Overall Performance tier (aka “plate color”), and depending on your tier, you’ll be matched with either AI or players of similar skill levels.

New NBA 2K27 players will start at the Casual level—and will progress through various Performance tiers before graduating into The City. Returning players’ starting level will be determined by their highest Performance tier in NBA 2K26. 

HOW TO PROGRESS

Here’s a quick breakdown of what competition in Casual Corner looks like for each Performance tier:

• Casual (Black): All games are played strictly against and alongside AI teammates and opponents. Casual players have space to learn builds, perfect jumpers, practice dribble animations, and get some Ws in.
• Hooper (Bronze): Teammates are real players while opponents remain AI. This is the ideal tier to learn how to play as a team, whether queueing up with friends or hopping in with randoms.
• Baller (Silver): Both teams consist of human players for fully competitive matchmaking. This is where Casual Corner introduces real competition for the first time—and where players put the skills they gained in Casual and Hooper tiers to the test.
• Pro (Gold): Full human vs. human games featuring higher-skilled opponents. Pro players are ready for The City.
• MVP (Purple) or Hall of Fame (Red): You have outgrown Casual Corner! CPU opponents are back, now at their highest possible ratings and Badges. VC, Season XP, REP, and Badge progression are no longer earned here. The REC, The Theater, and the rest of The City are waiting.
