In NBA 2K26, there are numerous dribble animations and signature moves for you to explore, giving you a bevy of ways to play like your favorite guards from around the league. In this guide, we’ll cover the fundamentals of dribbling in NBA 2K26, the basics of crossovers and breakdowns, and more.

Signature Size-Ups
As the title suggests, size-up defenders by quickly moving the Shot Stick left and right, or up repeatedly, in rhythm to create a crossover motion.
New Quick Protect
Pesky defenders with a knack for stealing the ball can be countered with the all-new Quick Protect feature. Tap the Left Trigger while dribbling to quickly shield off defenders and protect your dribble. This can also be used to crab a defender.
In and Out
Fake out defenders with an In and Out motion by moving the Shot Stick up, then quickly release it when dribbling with the player’s right hand.

Hesitation
Catch defenders off balance with a Hesitation move by moving the Shot Stick to the right, then quickly release it when dribbling with the player’s right hand.

Breakdown Combo
Dissect the defense with Breakdown Combos, great for getting your defender out of position so you can blow past them. To do this, hold the Right Trigger and move the Shot Stick up simultaneously, then release to put your defender in a blender.
Between Legs Cross
Go between the legs to avoid steal attempts and set up Breakdown Combos by moving the Shot Stick left, then quickly release when dribbling with the right hand.
Behind the Back
Go behind the back like Kyrie Irving by moving the Shot Stick down and to the left before releasing while dribbling with the right hand.
Stepback
Create separation between you and your defender by moving the Shot Stick down and releasing to do a stepback motion. These are great for players with good mid-range jumpshots, or 3-point specialists.
Stepback Crossover
Stepbacks can be paired with crossovers by holding the Right Trigger and flicking the Shot Stick down simultaneously. This is an advanced move that can break even the best defenders’ ankles.
Spin
Navigate defenders in the paint by spinning through the lane to get to the basket. Rotate the Shot Stick clockwise when the ball is in the right hand to pirouette past defenders.
Half Spin
Dupe defenders with a Half Spin—useful when you’re facing the basket—by rotating the Shot Stick in a quarter-circle motion with the ball in your right hand.
Hold Off Defenders
Luka Dončić and Jalen Brunson have mastered the art of holding off defenders when moving through the paint to better position themselves for a foul or an open look at the rim. Holding Left Trigger allows you to use your body to shield off defenders while dribbling. Use it against trailing defenders to prevent them from getting around you, making it easier to finish at the rim.
