FEATURED PLAYERS
Jalen Duren, Center, Detroit Pistons: 88 OVR (+1)
The Detroit Pistons big man made his NBA All-Star debut this year, capping off a stellar first half of the year and he’s continued to excel in the second half, as well. Over the past two weeks, Duren has been playing like a man possessed, averaging 25.5 points, 13.7 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block per game. On the year, he’s the 7th leading scorer and rebounder among centers with 18.6 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. He’s commanding both ends of the court and it’s a big reason why the Pistons are in control of the Eastern Conference.
Kon Knueppel, Guard, Charlotte Hornets: 87 OVR (+2)
The NBA Awards voting committee is going to have a difficult decision on their hands for Rookie of the Year. Between Kon Knueppel and his former Duke teammate Cooper Flagg, the race is going to come down to the wire. During the last two weeks, Knueppel has made a compelling case for the award, registering 21.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game. Big picture, Knueppel leads all players in three-pointers made with 212, and recently broke Keegan Murray’s rookie record for most three-pointers in a season.
Bennedict Mathurin, Forward, Los Angeles Clippers: 82 OVR (+1)
Sometimes a change of scenery is all it takes to be thrust into the spotlight. Since being traded by the Indiana Pacers to the Los Angeles Clippers in early February, Mathurin has been cooking on offense. The fourth-year forward has a knack for scoring and in his first month with his new team he’s contributing almost 20 points per game. On the Pacers, Mathurin was competing for playing time in a crowded platoon, but on the Clippers there’s an opportunity to carve out a consistent role.
